Elections
Special Message: Voter Registration
City Clerk Vicki Swanson is reminding all residents of the January 2006 mandatory statewide voter registration.
All voters in Wisconsin municipalities are required to be registered in order to vote. Citizens are urged to stop by City Hall with their driver’s license and register prior to Election Day. If you do not have a driver’s license, an identification card number or social security number may be acceptable. The registration form only takes a few minutes to complete and will enable you to expediently cast your ballot on Election Day. Election Day registration may take you up to 30 minutes depending on the volume of voters in the polling place.
The April 1, 2008 Election will be conducted locally by Municipal and County Districts. Vote for the candidates representing your neighborhood. If you have previously registered but have relocated within the City limits, you are required to complete the appropriate change-of-address form. This will ensure you that you are handed the proper ballot.
Please take a few minutes – City staff will assist and answer your questions. Your registration must be witnessed. Residents can avoid a long wait in line by coming into the City Clerk’s Office(s) prior to Election Day to complete or update their registration.
Citizens are also reminded that voter registration is a form of proof of residency that may be used for a multitude of purposes.
Remember, a ballot on Election Day cannot be released to you unless you are a registered voter.

any
other official I.D. card or license issued by a Wisconsin governmental body or
unit
-
any
employer-issued photo I.D. card, issued in the normal course of business, but
not including a business card
-
a
university, college or technical college fee card or I.D. card with your photo
and current address (May be used even if the card does not contain the
cardholder's address, if the educational institution provides a certified

license for the registration process. In the new Statewide Voter Registration
System (SVRS), the driver's license number used on the voter registration form
will be cross-checked with Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) records
to make sure that the person listed with that number is the same person who
registered to vote.
You will need to release
your Date of Birth on the registration form.
